Telling my brothers!

Well, Saturday, May 30th we went to dinner with my brothers. As soon as we were done ordering our meal I broke the news! I told them that I always wanted to be skinny at their weddings and since neither one of them were getting married soon, I had time to get fat. :) I said that they were not allowed to get married till after December 21st! They both looked at me and Jason immediately said, "YOU'RE PREGNANT!" I quickly said yes! Both of them were so excited ! It was pretty cool. I think they were in shock even though they must have known it would be coming soon. Our 5 year anniversary is in 18 days, so it was about time! :)

Breaking the news to my parents!

Well, the day has finally come to tell my parents. Unfortunately, John and I weren't able to tell them Tuesday after the appointment because he had an early flight back to Louisiana. I had told my mom John and I were going to stop by on the way home from the airport Friday to bring her Mother's Day gift. My grandmother passed away Mother's Day weekend, so we really didn't get a chance to celebrate as a family. Of course, John got to the airport Friday afternoon to find his plane was delayed 2 hours!!! Luckily, there was an earlier flight he was able to hop on so he only ended up being 30 minutes late. I was so impatient by the time he landed. When we got to my parents house, I was so excited! Immediately, I handed my mom her gift. Before she opened it, she asked John if he picked it out. It was too funny! His response was, "well, actually I did help with this gift." When my mom opened the gift she quickly looked at me and said, "is this serious?" "Are you pregnant?" John and I had bought a frame that said, "Baby to Bee" and put an ultrasound picture in it. I started screaming and jumping up and down. Let's just say my mom was shocked. I think she thought I'd tell her the day I took a home pregnancy test and not do it in a special way. I remember immediately looking at my dad and seeing a huge smile on his face. He actually said that the thought crossed his mind that we may be coming over to tell him I was pregnant. It wasn't normal for us to stop by at 8:30 on the way home from the airport on a Friday night. Well, my dad proceeded to open a bottle of wine to celebrate which my parents and John drank in an hour. John and I shared all the stories of how things had happened and our reason for waiting to break the news! It was such a great night. As soon as we got in the car John said, "man, that was fun! We should get pregnant more often!"

2nd Visit

Tuesday, May 25th was my second appointment! I must say it was nice to have John with me. As soon as we walked back to be seen, the nurse said that our doctor had to leave because someone was in labor!! My heart dropped! All I could think was that John had taken off work and I didn't want to reschedule!!! The nurse asked if we would mind seeing the other doctor in the office. Immediately, I said "NO!" I just wanted John to see Poppy and know everything was on track. It was so amazing to see how much Poppy had changed in 4 weeks! You could actually see eyes and limbs. Poppy did do a quick wave and I was able to see a hand with fingers! That was pretty cool. The doctor said everything looked great! Here are the 10 week pics!
You can really see the eyes and mouth in picture #2! It sort of looks like an alien! Oh, I can't wait till Friday! I finally get to tell my parents! YAHOO!

1st visit!

Well, Tuesday, April 28th was my first doctor visit. Talk about being nervous!! I didn't know what to expect going into the appointment. It's a good thing the nurse only took my blood pressure and not my pulse! My doctor said everything looked good and the due date is looking like December 21st! Yes, we are having a Christmas baby! :) This is going to be the best gift EVER!
Below our a few pictures of "poppy!" Yes, John and I have named the baby "poppy" since it started out as a poppy seed and it's just sort of stuck. No, that will not be the official name. Just our name for the next few months! :)
P.S. It's killing me not to tell anyone yet!!! Can I make it 5-6 more weeks? I think my mom may kill me when she finds out I knew this whole time. However, it's going to be a great welcome to summer present for her!
